SCOTLAND, ISLE of SKYE: Even though this scenery around the Old Man of Storr is very popular among photographers, it is also one of the few places so breathtakingly beautiful that when reaching the final elevated spot for the classic composition, one actually does not feel like taking any photos...

FRANCE, CARNAC: The menhir alignments let everybody feel the presence of history but they are very difficult to capture photographically, the site being vast, flat and rather uniform. A colourful sunrise after a rainstorm is therefore rather necessary for a decent photo.

ITALY, DOLOMITES: Lago Antorno, just at the beginning of the road up to Tre Cime, is effectively nothing else than a parking lot where all the photographers fight for the same shot across the water with the reflection of the mountains in the background. Nevertheless, with a good sunrise, the scenery is worth getting up early.

ITALY, DOLOMITES: Autumn in the Dolomites is of course inevitably about the bright orange larches...

SRI LANKA, SIGIRIYA ROCK: Probably the number one sightseeing spot of Sri Lanka. Visiting this incredible rock formation is certainly worth waiting for hours as well as suffering from vertigo on the flimsy metal staircase attached to the rock. But for a photo of Sigiriya, one has to climb the nearby rock of Pidurangala, ideally for the sunset.

ITALY, DOLOMITES: This photo was taken in great hurry, trying to capture the last rays of sunlight on the mountain range and making sure that the moon would not disappear behind clouds. As this was a matter of seconds, the composition suffered slightly...

ITALY, LA MORRA: Obviously, photography cannot be a priority in tLanghe. Fortunately, the local wine cellars only open after breakfast and some photos can be therefore taken in the early mornings, hangover permitting...

FRANCE, CROZON: The Plage de l'Aber would be an ocean scenery by high tide but when the sea recedes, one can walk for kilometres on the firm sand.

SCOTLAND, BUACHAILLE ETIVE MOR: In reality, this mountain is even more imposing than what all the guidebooks promise. An amazing stone mass offering many interesting photo angles under the constantly changing sky.

ITALY, DOLOMITES: Good footwear indispensable, but photographically the rock formation of Cinque Torri is marvelous, as it offers numerous compositions to all directions and allows - thanks to the slow progress of the sunlight - the photographer to stay for several hours both in the morning and in the evening.

ITALY, DOLOMITES:While waiting for the morning light above Cinque Torri, there are enough opportunities to photograph the surrounding mountain ranges. Almost any direction works, wherever the sunrise happens to be crazy enough...

ITALY, DOLOMITES: Two hours into the morning trip to Cinque Torri, the winter day only gets colder and colder. Difficult not the think of the soldiers who were fighting at this very site during the 1st world war.

ITALY, DOLOMITES: Passo Giau is another location where walking just twenty meters or sometimes simply pointing the camera to another direction results in capturing a completely different scenery.

MASKU, FINLAND: The sunsets in the summer of southern Finland always get extreme...

ITALY, DOLOMITES: Everybody takes a photo of Lago Antorno and then hurries straight towards Tre Cime but the road connecting these two classic destinations offers many interesting views too.
